Members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana will finally see offers to sell their fractionated interests as part of the Land Buy-Back Program for Tribal Nations.

Offers will start going out September 5, The Missoulian reported. The date was announced by Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, who visited the reservation on Wednesday and met with tribal leaders.

“Part of the importance of working with the tribes is making sure we can get the offers to the people, that we’ve got good addresses, that we know where to find them to follow up,” Jewell told the tribal council, the Missoulian reported.

About $7.4 million in offers will be made, the paper said. Participation is entirely voluntary and any interests that are acquired will be transferred to the tribe.
