A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer accused police in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, of shoddy work in investigating the death of a Native teenager in 1990.

Darren McFadyen led a task force that considered whether Saskatoon police played a role in the death of Neil Stonechild, 17. He testified that the police never interviewed key witnesses and rushed through the inquiry. He said the handling of the case could be a cover-up or just plain negligence.

Stonechild was found frozen to death on the outskirts of town. Many in the Native community suspect police involvement.
