Skull Valley Goshute Tribe's election called off

An election scheduled by the Skull Valley Goshute Tribe of Utah was called off on Saturday by disputed chairman Leon Bear.

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Bear called off the election because not enough people showed up. The tribe has about 86 adult members.

Margene Bullcreek planned to challenge Bear for the position of chairman. She says Bear is not holding office legitimately.

Bear has been indicted on federal fraud and tax charges. He is awaiting trial.
