A council member for the Zuni Tribe of New Mexico has been suspended but The Gallup Independent can't figure out why.
On August 15, William Tsikewa was placed on administrative leave with pay for two weeks. Gov. Arlen Quetawki confirmed the suspension but wouldn't discuss it with the paper.
Other council members didn't return phone calls. But Quetawki apparently told the paper that Tsikewa is under investigation, so talking about the suspension would be premature.
Quetawki was voted out of office last week when he lost the tribe's primary.
