Woman hopes to be first to lead Navajo Nation

Members of the Navajo Nation will vote today in what may turn out to be an historic election.

Voters are choosing between incumbent president Joe Shirley Jr. and challenger Lynda Lovejoy. Lovejoy is the first woman to make it to the general election.

Shirley touts his experience and his plans for gaming and economic development. Lovejoy talks about the need for change, and she has questioned some of Shirley's proposals.

Lovejoy faces additional hurdles over her gender. Some traditional Navajos believe women should not be able to lead the tribe.
