Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe holds council election

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts held an election for two council seats.

Aaron Tobey Jr. won the most votes of the nine candidates. He said he wants the tribe to be more open with its finances and tribal council activities.

Robert Dias received the second-highest number of votes. The 25-year-old wants the tribe to work better with its younger members.

The election fills the entire tribal council since the resignation of former chairman Glenn Marshall in August.
