Voters narrow the field for revised Navajo Nation Council districts
In addition to president and vice president, voters on the Navajo Nation are choosing delegates for the newly revised Navajo Nation Council.

The new council has 24 seats, down from 88 seats. Tribal members approved the change through a reservation-wide referendum in 2009.

LoRenzo Bates and George Arthur are competing for the seat Upper Fruitland, Hogback, Nenahnezad, Burnham, San Juan and Newcomb chapters, all in New Mexico.

Pete Ken Atcitty and Russell Begaye vying to represent the Shiprock Chapter, also in New Mexico.

Kenneth Maryboy and Davis Filfred will compete for the seat that represents the Aneth, Mexican Water, Sweetwater, Red Mesa and Teec Nos Pos chapters in Utah and Arizona.

David Tom and Irvin Tyler are running for the western chapters in New Mexico and in Arizona.
