Passamaquoddy Tribe ready to receive $11.4 trust settlement

The Passamaquoddy Tribe of Maine has yet to decide what to do with a $11.4 million trust fund settlement that was reached with the Obama administration.

After legal expenses, the tribe will receive $10.2 million. Some tribal members want a per capita distribution but a public hearing is being planned to discuss options.

"We will have a public hearing about what should be done with the funds," Chief Clayton Cleaves told The Bangor Daily News.

The tribe consists of the Indian Township and Pleasant Point.
