Mohegan Tribe assumes larger off-reservation role

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut will play a larger role in the development of an off-reservation casino in Wisconsin.

The tribe was financing the Menominee Nation's proposed casino in Kenosha. But the local developer, Dennis Troha, has pulled out of the project amid an FBI investigation into campaign contributions made to the state governor.

The tribe has essentially bought out Troha's share in the deal. The Menominee Nation's stake remains the same.

The regional Bureau of Indian Affairs office has recommended the casino be approved. Officials in Washington, D.C., are now considering the project, which also requires state approval.
