The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has entered into a one-year partnership with a horse track.
The tribe and Santa Anita Park signed the deal in December. They work together on major horse races, cross-promotion, television advertising and other marketing activities.
This Saturday, the San Manuel Band is sponsoring the $1 million Santa Anita Handicap, the biggest race of the season. Overall, the tribe is the track's largest sponsor.
Despite the partnership, some racetracks continue to blame tribes for dwindling revenues. The tracks have opposed new compacts signed by the San Manuels and other tribes.
