Two more California tribes reach side agreement

Two more California have reached side agreements in order to gain approval of their stalled gaming compacts.

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and the Morongo Band of Mission Indians each signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday. They were joined by the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians and the Sycuan Band of Kumeyaay Indians, whose agreements were announced on Tuesday.

The MOUs address minimum internal control standards, financial audits, workers' compensation and other issues. The agreements are seen as crucial to ensuring Democratic support of the tribes' gaming compacts.

A fifth tribe, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, has refused a side agreement.
