A personal grooming and appearance policy is ruffling some feathers at the new casino being opened by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut.
Male employees of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods cannot have facial hair or wear earrings. Female employees can only wear one earring per ear. Employees can't wear strong fragrances or colognes either.
”This is done to create an elevated experience for our customer and deliver a consistent and quality experience each and every time one of our guests visits our property,” Gillian Murphy, senior vice president and general manager of MGM Grand at Foxwoods, told The New London Day in a statement.
Some male employees have been told to shave their facial hair or be fired. ”The way I look has no bearing on how well I do my job or the 30-plus years of experience that I bring to the job,” audio technician Travis Potter told the paper.
Potter said he won't comply with the new policy so he expects to be terminated after the casino opens May 17.
