Mohegan Tribe to bid on New York City casino again

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut plans another run at a casino in New York City.

The tribe was one of three finalists for a slot machine facility at the Aqueduct Racetrack. The winner was Delaware North, a New York firm that has been unable to secure financing for the project due to the recession.

”As the premier casino operator in the Northeast we are confident that a Mohegan Sun-managed facility will create much needed jobs and revenue for the Queens community and we can develop Aqueduct as a world-class entertainment destination, generating millions of tax dollars for the State of New York," a Mohegan executive said.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation also bid on the casino and might get back in the game, an executive said.
