Blog: Seminole Tribe defends compact in newsletter

Ed. Note: The Seminole Tribe also publishes the Seminole Tribune.

"Perhaps part of its seemingly endless PR blitz, the Seminole tribe is deploying yet another tactic: The Seminole Sentinel, a newsletter full of pro-Seminole spin and blurbs from the week's news.

The Seminoles used today's edition to give an update on Friday's revenue estimating conference, which the newsletter said "raised the stakes for finding new, recurring sources of revenue."

Guess what recurring source of revenue the tribe has in mind? Yep: Gov. Charlie Crist's Indian gambling deal. The newsletter: "A Seminole Compact would provide $288 million now, and an estimated $300-500 million/year once the compact was up and fully running."

Next step, maybe the tribe will produce its own newspaper? Who knows."
