Maine gaming bill excludes Passamaquoddy Tribe

A legislative committee in Maine advanced a gaming bill on Monday but rejected a provision for the Passamaquoddy Tribe.

The tribe wanted the ability to offer up to 100 slot machines a bingo facility in Indian Township. The Legal and Veterans Affairs Committee unanimously voted against the proposal.

Maine voters authorized a race track with slot machines in 2004 but have consistently rejected tribal gaming.
