Editorial: Seminole compact looks like best deal

"A compact with the Seminoles or a free market for gambling β which one should Florida pick? Legislative leaders would do well to think this one through before rolling the dice. Following negotiations with the governor, the Seminole Tribe of Florida agreed to pony up $150 million a year for the exclusive right to table games like blackjack. Florida lawmakers, however, remain unsatisfied. So they are rebuffing the Seminole money in lieu of reinventing a better wheel. Namely, some House lawmakers, including state Rep. Ellyn Bogdanoff, R-Fort Lauderdale, now say they want to give Florida's 67 counties the chance to vote on whether to allow gambling. Would that be a better deal?
