Lawmakers working on Class III deal with Seminole Tribe

Key lawmakers say they are close to a Class III gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

The deal would authorize blackjack and card games for the tribe. But it would also expand non-Indian gaming at some facilities, The Tallahassee Democrat reported.

The tribe has insisted on exclusivity for slot machines except in two counties were voters approved them at non-Indian facilities. Still, the tribe has agreed to share revenues with the state under the agreement.

The deal would last five years, giving lawmakers more time to consider other changes to the non-Indian gaming industry.
