Pojoaque Pueblo reports yearly net gain in casino winnings

The economy continues to impact Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico but the tribe's gaming revenues appear to be improving.

The tribe's net win from its two casinos was $12.2 million in the first quarter of 2010, The Albuquerque Journal reported. That's an increase of 1.7 percent from the first quarter of 2009.

But the boost isn't enough to help pay off the $245 million bond used to finance the Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino. The tribe is about to miss its third payment of $11.5 million.

The casino opened in September 2008, right before the economy collapsed.
