Mohegan Tribe not anticipating more employee layoffs at casino

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut doesn't plan on laying off more employees at Mohegan Sun, the casino's top executive said.

The tribe reduced the workforce at the casino by 5 percent, resulting in a net loss of 355 employees. An anonymous analyst told The New London Day to expect more layoffs in the future.

"We believe that there will be no more layoffs," CEO Mitchell Etess told the paper in response.

The tribe hasn't decided whether to trim governmental programs and reduce or eliminate per capita payments, vice chairman Bruce "Two Dogs" Bozsum said last week.
