Mayor backs Jemez Pueblo's proposal for off-reservation casino

The mayor of Anthony, New Mexico, welcomes the off-reservation casino proposed by Jemez Pueblo.

The tribe has filed a land-into-trust application for a site in Anthony, about 300 miles from its reservation. The Bush administration rejected the proposal but the Bureau of Indian Affairs is reviewing it again.

Mayor Ramon Gonzalez wants the casino but not every official supports it. Trustee Diana Murillo says the casino won't address the city's problems.
