Mississippi Choctaw chief promises cooperation after casino raid

The leader of the the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians said casino management are cooperating "fully" with a federal investigation.

Chief Beasley Denson said he doesn't know why the FBI raided the Pearl River Resort last Tuesday. "The nature of the investigation is still unclear," he said in a statement, The Hattiesburg American reported.

A local television station reported that the raid might be linked to Denson's dealings with Mercury Gaming, an Atlanta company. But he said he wasn't going to comment.

"Media speculation and citing of unnamed sources is highly irresponsible," Denson said in the statement.
