"The Passamaquoddy tribe in Indian Township wants to build a racino in Washington County. To do this, it needs help from the rest of the state.
Passamaquoddies are asking us to support Question 2 on Nov. 8, which would allow two racinos to be built: one in Biddeford and and another in Washington County, with part of the profits from these facilities going to support specific state and local programs.
There is no question there is a need for economic development that will create jobs and provide a revenue base for Washington County. The state of Maine also needs additional revenues as we slowly try to recover from the worst recession since the great Depression."
