Ho-Chunk Nation outlines plans for an off-reservation casino

The Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin outlined plans for an off-reservation casino on Tuesday night.

The tribe wants to build a $150 million to $200 million facility on 32 acres in Beloit. The project would include a 45,000-square-foot casino, a 35,000-square-foot convention center and a 300-room hotel.

“I think we have a match -- a place that is looking for opportunity and a nation that has the potential to create opportunity,” President Jon Greendeer told residents at a public meeting, The Janesville Gazette reported.

The city council will discuss an agreement with tribe on January 17.
