Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe picks location for gaming facility

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe has picked Taunton, Massachusetts, as its casino site.

Chairman Cedric Cromwell and Mayor Thomas Hoye Jr. are holding a press conference this morning to discuss plans for the casino. “This will be a first class resort with something to offer the whole family," Cromwell said in a press release, The Boston Globe reported.

The tribe will schedule a vote in the community, as required by H.3702, the state's gaming law. The law also places a July 31 deadline on Class III compact negotiations.
