The Stillaguamish Tribe of Washington finally secured reservation status for its casino site and surrounding land.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs published notice of the reservation proclamation for 64 acres earlier this month. The effort took nearly 30 years, Chairman Shawn Yanity said.

“It kind of gives us that anchor on the map,” Yanity told The Everett Herald.

The tribe is still working on a $20 million hotel at the Angel of the Winds Casino. The 125-room, five-story facility is due to open in spring 2015.
