Group opposing Poarch Creeks tied to tribal lobbyists

The Christian Coalition of Alabama may have received money from Washington, D.C., lobbyists under a Senate investigation, The Atmore Advance reports.
The coalition has been fighting the Poarch Creek Band of Alabama over gaming. The group claims the tribe has been operating illegal Class III games.
But the group may have received funds through lobbyist Jack Abramoff or public relations executive Michael Scanlon. Their clients included the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, whose leaders are said to have used the lobbyists to monitor the Poarch Creeks.
The lobbyists paid former national Christian Coalition director Ralph Reed to mobilize opposition to the Poarch Creeks, the Jena Band of Choctaws from Louisiana and other tribes, according to news reports.
