Frist to challenge Democrats on judicial nominees

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tennessee) will challenge Democrats who have blocked President Bush's controversial judicial nominees and is considering a ban on filibusters.
Frist will join Christian conservatives in a telecast portraying Democrats as "against people of faith" for blocking the nominees, The New York Times reports. He is likely to seek a change in Senate rules to ban filibusters on judicial picks, The Washington Post adds.
In 2004, Democrats successfully blocked Bill Myers, the former Interior solicitor, for a spot on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Tribes unanimously opposed Myers but President Bush renominated him and Republican leaders like Frist hope they can put him on the bench.
