Tribe seeks higher standard on Columbia River

The Confederated Umatilla Tribes will be meeting with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality to discuss toxicity standards on the Columbia River.
The tribe and the state are in disagreement over how to set the standard. The tribe, citing higher consumption of fish by tribal members, wants a higher standard.
Members of tribes along the river eat 20 to 25 times more fish than what is represented by the state's standard, a Umatilla official said.
