Deloria celebration scheduled in Rapid City


A celebration of Vine Deloria Jr. will take place this evening in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The public is invited to share their memories about the life and literature of the Deloria, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe who died on Sunday at the age of 72.

The event will be from 5pm to 6:30pm at Prairie Edge in downtown Rapid City [Web Site].

Deloria's funeral is being held in Golden, Colorado, at 3:30pm in the Mount Vernon Event Center.

Contributions, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to the Vine Deloria Scholarship Fund, c/o The American Indian Scholarship Fund, Attn: Rick Williams, 8333 Greenwood Blvd., Denver, CO 80221.
