Passamaquoddy Tribe seeks former naval base

The Passamaquoddy Tribe is seeking to acquire a former naval air station in Brunswick, Maine.

The 3,200-acre Brunswick Naval Air Station is no longer in use. The tribe is eligible to acquire the property as long as the Bureau of Indian Affairs submits a request to the General Services Administration.

The tribe says its acquisition will bring economic benefits to the local community. But other entities, including government agencies, are also seeking the land.
