Pascua Yaqui church celebrates 30 years

The Cristo Rey Church on the Pascua Yaqui Reservation in Arizona celebrated its 30th birthday this past May.

With the help of donations, volunteers worked on the church for two years before it was finished. Now the church serves nearly 4,500 people, with ceremonies that mix Catholic and Yaqui traditions.

As part of its anniversary, the church dedicated a new $230,000 center on Sunday. The modular building will be used for training, including religious classes, seminars, pastoral council and youth meetings.
