Adam Beach plays Ira Hayes in 'Flags of Our Fathers'
Friday, October 6, 2006

Native actor Adam Beach depicts U.S. Marine Ira Hayes in the upcoming film "Flags of Our Fathers" [IMDB Entry].

Hayes, a Pima from Arizona, was one of four Marines who raised the American flag at Iwo Jima. The picture of the soldiers is one of the long-lasting symbols of World War II.

Beach, a member of the Saulteaux First Nation from Canada, said the movie will make people appreciate veterans. He previously depicted a Navajo Code Talker in "Windtalkers," another WWII movie.
