Tribes meet for global warming conference in Arizona

Representatives of more than 50 tribes are meeting on the Cocopah Reservation in Arizona this week to discuss global warming.

Attendees will discuss the impact of climate change on their communities. Reports have shown that indigenous people, particularly those in the Arctic, bear major health, environmental and economic risks due to global warming.

Other topics to be discussed include alternative energy and sustainable development. Hosted by the Cocopah Tribe, the conference starts Tuesday and runs through Wednesday [Tribal Lands Climate Conference].
