Pit River Tribe reinstates chairwoman

Jessica Jim is back on the job as chairwoman of the Pit River Tribe of California.

Jim was removed by the tribal council earlier this month. But the council reversed its decision, saying the move was unconstitutional, The Redding Record-Searchlight reported.

However, Jim holds the position in name only. She does not have the authority to sign off on decisions affecting the tribe because the council stripped her of those powers.

Jim said she was surprised by her reinstatement.
