Swedish film about spirituality stirs controversy

A Swedish film team says it did not pay Arvol Looking Horse, the holder of the Lakota White Buffalo Calf pipe, to appear in their "Spriits for Sale" documentary.

The producers also says they will not be bringing the Lakota sacred bundle to Sweden for the screening of the film. But they are raising money for Looking Horse, a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, to travel to Sweden.

Alfred Bone Shirt, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, says the arrangement raises questions about the exploitation of Lakota spirituality. He claims Looking Horse is marking the sacred pipe.
