The leader of an unrecognized tribe in Kansas says more than 10,000 immigrants have been recruited for membership.
The Kaweah Indian Nation is part of a federal investigation into the sale of membership to Mexican nationals.
Two people have been arrested in Kansas in immigration-related offenses.
The tribe sought recognition but was rejected by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
