Federal probe into Makah whale hunt ongoing

The National Marine Fisheries Service is still investigating the killing of a gray whale by five members of the Makah Nation of Washington.

An agency spokesperson said it would be a couple more weeks before any action might occur. The five could face charges for killing the whale without a federal permit.

The tribe is also vowing to punish the hunters. Charges have yet to be filed in tribal court.
