Idaho tribe wants to hunt bison near Yellowstone

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Idaho are seeking approval to hunt bison near Yellowstone National Park.

Asserting its treaty rights to off-reservation hunting, the tribe wants to hunt bison near the park in Montana and Wyoming. Officials from both states are reviewing the proposal.

The Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho has already hunted near Yellowstone for two winters. The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana holds its first hunt this winter.
