Ely Shoshone Tribe seeks share of $145M payout

Leaders of the Ely Shoshone Tribe of Nevada are waiting for their share of a $145 million trust fund.
Congress created the fund to compensate members of the Western Shoshone Nation for the loss of treaty lands. But Ely Shoshone leaders say the Bureau of Indian Affairs is moving too slow to distribute the money.
Some Western Shoshones oppose the payout. They say they never lost the land that was promised in the 1863 Treaty of Ruby Valley.
The Ely Shoshone Tribe says tribal members could receive more than $20,000.
Through the Bush administration, the tribe received four parcels of land, some of which will be used for economic development.
