Letter: Indians should be proud to be called 'Redskins'

"Whatever happened to freedom of speech in the United States? The liberals approve of the right to burn the U.S. flag, yet the liberal Democrat-controlled Legislature wants to censor (ban) public schools from using Redskins as a mascot name.

For many years, the Colusa High School Redskins have brought honor, talent and excellence to the north state. The American Indian should be proud to have Colusa High School claim Redskins as their mascot.

The African-Americans are proud to be referred to as black. The American Indian should be proud to be referred to as redskins."
