Report into Native man's death to be delayed
Friday, March 21, 2008

The report into the death of Native man in Vancouver, British Columbia, will be delayed pending resolution of legal issues.

Frank Paul, a Mi'kmaq from New Brunswick, died in December 1998. He was left on the streets by police officers on a cold, rainy night.

Commissioner William Davies is leading the inquiry into Paul's death. He has called hearings to find out why government prosecutors failed to charge the officers who were involved.

Those hearings are set to begin May 26. But the government has asked the B.C. Supreme Court to overturn Davies' decision to call prosecutors to the stand.
