Arrests made at troubled tribal college in California

Sheriff deputies in Yolo County, California, arrested 18 people at the defunct D-Q University on Monday.

The tribal college hasn't held classes since 2004. The Bureau of Indian Affairs pulled federal funding and the school lost its accreditation.

Several groups are trying to rebuild the college but say protesters -- who claim they are former students -- are getting in the way. Police have been called to the site several times to remove the occupants.

"We want education," occupant Mixica Purepecha told The Woodland Daily Democrat. "It's as simple as that."
