Leech Lake woman plans run for Minnesota House

Irene Folstrom, a member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, is entering the race for the Minnesota House.

Folstrom, a Democrat, is seeking seat being left open by Assistant House Majority Leader Frank Moe, who won't be seeking re-election. The district includes the Leech Lake Reservation.

Folstrom, a former staffer for the National Congress of American Indians, ran for state Senate in 2005. She stepped aside to allow another candidate to win the Democratic endorsement.
