The
Seneca Nation is sending a delegation to lobby
New York Gov. David Paterson (D) on a tobacco tax bill.
The tribe says state taxation violates treaty rights and its sovereignty. Taxation will hurt the local economy and lead to unemployment, according to Seneca leaders.
Paterson hasn't stated his views on the bill.
