Comanche Nation hosts NMAI Code Talker exhibit
The Comanche Nation of Oklahoma is hosting an exhibit on the Code Talkers, the Indian soldiers who used their languages to develop codes for the U.S. military.

The "Native Words, Native Warriors" exhibit is on loan from the National Museum of the American Indian. Seventeen Comanche soldiers have been identified as Code Talkers.

"We have a problem with language in America," Comanche Chairman Wallace Coffey told KSWO-TV. "Everyone is saying, ‘English only,' but what they fail to realize is our Indian Nations. We were born with an original language.

The city of Lawton declared September 25 as Comanche Code Talker Day.
