A Mohawk activist who helped organize a protest in Ontario last year walked free after government prosecutors dropped all but one charge against him.

Shawn Brant, who is from the Six Nations Reserve, was facing a 12-year prison sentence. But revelations that the Ontario Provincial Police spied on him complicated the case.

Brant organized the blockade of a Canadian National rail line on July 29, 2007, a day of Native protests across Canada. Native protesters are currently blocking a highway in Saskatchewan over a disputed oil pipeline.
