Artman joins Indian law practice at firm

Correction: Carl Artman will be based in Milwaukee, not Madison.
Carl Artman, the former head of the
Bureau of Indian Affairs, is joining the
Godfrey & Kahn law firm.
Artman, a member of the
Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, will be a shareholder in the Indian law and environmental/energy practice groups. He is working out of the firm's office in Milwaukee.
"Carl will be a great addition to both our Indian Nations and Environmental & Energy Practice Groups," said managing partner Rick Bliss.
Artman ran the BIA from March 2007 to May 2008. His actions on land-into-trust and gaming have been criticized by tribes and members of Congress.
