Meskwaki Tribe seeking to remove non-member
The Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa is seeking to remove a non-member from the reservation.

The tribe says James Ironshell, who is Sioux, can't stay in a tribally-built home even though he is married to a Meskwaki woman. The couple has three children.

"My wife and I refuse to let this happen," Ironshell told The Marshall Times Republican. "It's wrong. It's basically and ethically wrong."

Ironshell said the tribe's policy is unfair because non-Meskwaki males who are living with tribal women elsewhere on the reservation aren't being targeted. He said Meskwaki men who live with non-tribal members aren't affected either.
