Three tribes sued the Department of Housing and Urban Development to challenge the amount of their annual block grants.
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, the Yakama Nation of Washington and the Grindstone Indian Rancheria of Wintun-Wailaki Indians of California say HUD illegally reduced the amount of their grants.
The suit is based on a formula that was changed by the H.R.2786, the reauthorization of the Native
American Housing and Self-Determination Act that was signed into law last month.
The law gives tribes 45 days from NAHASDA's enactment to file lawsuits.
