Probe into beating of eagle on Swinomish Reservation
Federal authorities are investigating the beating of a bald eagle on the Swinomish Reservation in Washington.

A man said he witnessed a tribal member beat the eagle with a BB gun and a piece of driftwood. The bird had to be euthanized as a result of its injuries.

"Never witnessed anything like it, and it's all for nothing," witness Jason Rowell told KOMO News.

The chairman of the Swinomish Tribe said the man who beat the eagle violated federal law and cultural traditions.
